## 2026-10-29 — FireRed OCR comparison and attribution layout
- Add an explicit local OpenAI-compatible FireRed adapter with source/settings-bound raw caches and fail-closed handling of truncated responses.
- Preserve Markdown paragraph structure without inventing OCR coordinates; optionally align geometry from a verified same-source Vision cache while retaining FireRed text.
- Preserve right-aligned author/date blocks and prevent date furniture removal or attribution paragraph merging.
- Add pagewise OCR comparison and manually verified snippet CER; validate only pages 1–50 of the sample PDF, with two partial EPUBs and responsive navigation QA.
- Regression suite: 103 passed, 2 skipped. Complex scanned layouts and automatic figure segmentation remain deferred.
## 2026-10-28 — lightweight standalone PDF import preview
- Add PDFium/Pillow PDF import with native text, macOS system Vision OCR and an optional Tesseract adapter; no translation or heavyweight model dependency required.
- Support Chinese reflow directly and English EPUB export for the existing translation pipeline, without automatically starting paid translation.
- Cache source-bound page recognition, retain coordinates and raw OCR, reconstruct single-column paragraphs across pages, and preserve bookmark hierarchy and source-page anchors.
- Preserve selected illustration/title/back-cover pages, export digital PDF image regions, and apply source-bound exact OCR corrections without rewriting raw checkpoints.
- Add PDF/source-anchor desktop and narrow-screen QA with actual NAV clicks; validate all 476 pages and 87 bookmark targets on the user-provided sample.
- Keep output explicitly marked as an OCR reflow draft; complex layouts, scanned-page figure segmentation and footnote reconstruction remain outside this release.
## 2026-10-10 — Highest Exam edition metadata
- Preserve OPF metadata XML comments while replacing edition values and their refinements.
- Add a comment-node regression test and document Chinese/bilingual cover and metadata updates for existing complete Highest Exam translations.
## 2026-10-10 — Protocols AZW3 edition and embedded fonts
- Bind graphical chapter headings to navigation using image alt text while preserving source markup.
- Preserve publisher heading and note spacing; apply translation separation to prose and bilingual insertions.
- Rebind standard IDPF/Adobe font obfuscation when creating independent edition UUIDs, preserving original font bytes and auditing decoded content.
- Serve decoded embedded fonts in headless QA; cover legacy Calibre font MIME types and local CSS/style/preload references.
- Reject empty translated spans that delete styled protocol numbers.
- Complete Protocols in both EPUB modes with Chinese covers, source-bound metadata, resource preservation and documented sample QA.
## 2026-10-08 — nested chapter anchors and Highest Exam regression
- Bind TOC anchors nested inside headings to their enclosing title; exclude punctuation-only ornaments from heading groups.
- Normalize visible Chinese ordinals, including split Chinese numbers and suffixes, without duplicating screen-reader prefixes in navigation labels.
- Complete a Luna agent translation of The Highest Exam in both modes and record full-book audits, semantic samples and paired headless layout review.
## v0.14 (2026-10-08) — Chinese covers and library edition metadata
- Add source-bound bibliographic configuration with authoritative/project title status and evidence; include verified Gambling Man title/author and a clearly provisional House of Huawei title.
- Prepare image-generation jobs and package separately reviewed Chinese/bilingual covers without retranslating text or adding runtime dependencies.
- Distinguish modes and revisions in library titles, cover badges and edition UUIDs; retain original bibliographic provenance without borrowing official Chinese publication identity.
- Update EPUB2/3 cover metadata and XHTML/SVG bindings; clone external SVG wrappers, retain original image/font bytes and prevent cover stretching.
- Integrate optional edition configuration into API and complete-book agent builds; extend headless checks to title, author, language, identifier, cover hash and document bindings.
- Extend translation skill with bibliographic research, image generation/review and offline packaging. Codex built-in imagegen verified; exact image model remains undisclosed, OAuth API image generation is currently unsupported.
## 2026-10-08 — translation skill and desktop-independent QA
- Add discoverable `epub-translate` skill for full-book agent/API translation, terminology review, selective repair and evidence-based acceptance.
- Add agent-manifest prepare/apply/build harness with complete extraction, source signatures, model isolation, visible rejected repairs and strict final builds.
- Add headless structural/coverage/navigation/note/resource audit; distinguish embedded notes and shared external note gateways.
- Add optional Playwright Chromium shell rendering, UTF-8 ZIP serving, paired screenshots, layout findings and actual note/backlink clicks without desktop unlock or Calibre/Poppler.
- Detect stale output text, missing full-book units, OPF-relative paths, wrapped NAV links and mismatched NAV/NCX/visible TOC labels.
- Independently forward-test using Luna on an original complete 48-unit book; review both modes and document limits.
## 2026-10-08 — uniform Chinese Part ordinals and full-book mode
- Preserve semantic credits, index, bibliography and note layouts instead of forcing body indentation.
- Stop on provider credential/quota failures (HTTP 401/402/403), cancel queued requests and checkpoint completed translations for resumption.
- Reset publisher digit-only enlargement and color on translated Part numbers so “第四部” displays uniformly.
- Add `--complete-book` to include notes, bibliography, index, copyright and non-spine text documents.
- Add explicit configuration/credential file options and a Zenmux Sonnet 5.5 configuration without credentials.
- Checkpoint whole-book terminology scans and record conflicting model proposals while retaining established translations.
- Bind number-only Part headings such as House of Huawei's “Part I” and normalize “第一部分” to “第一部”.
- Keep different entities with shared short aliases (Sun, Fuji, Noda) separate and persistently exclude ambiguous aliases from automatic terminology constraints.
- Match single Latin named tokens with case sensitivity (WHO/who, Jobs/jobs, Arm/arm) and version translation fingerprints when matching policy changes.
- Restrict automatic single-name aliases to evidenced nicknames and acronyms; exclude month names and nationality words, and cache compiled alias patterns for whole-book validation.
- Filter ordinary-word aliases and implicit surname collisions in automatic glossaries; do not force context-dependent single-word senses. Explicit user glossary constraints remain authoritative.
## 2026-10-08 — clickable Part navigation
- Keep parent Part links directly under NAV list items so Calibre resolves their destinations.
- Repair generated wrappers in older preprocessing caches without retranslating.
- Add Calibre TOC integration checks for Chinese and bilingual output.
## 2026-10-08 — Chinese typography and shared navigation titles
- Indent Chinese body paragraphs by two em, including chapter openings and converted div prose; preserve heading/caption/note layouts.
- Bind NAV, NCX and visible contents links to shared chapter/part translations while preserving anchors, hierarchy and resource paths.
- Recognize adjacent number/title/subtitle blocks and normalize Chinese chapter/part numbers without merging their markup.
- Include heading context in translation cache fingerprints and update old manifest contexts during reconciliation.
- Add navigation regression tests and record the scanned PDF/OCR to EPUB roadmap.
## 2026-10-08 — translation and QA improvements
- Replace regex tag extraction with balanced DOM placeholders and protect literal φ.
- Fail closed on invalid translations; selectively retry and checkpoint validated chunks.
- Add persisted whole-book terminology, alias exclusions, conflict reports and resume fingerprints.
- Repair malformed HTML and extract disjoint mixed/list/table units with stable anchors.
- Preserve the original EPUB package, stylesheet links, navigation and resources.
- Add structural audits, Calibre visual evidence and offline agent-manifest QA scripts.
# Changelog
## v0.13 (2026-02-01) - Typography & Extraction Fixes
### New Features
- **Typography V3 (Safe Mode)**: Implemented conservative CSS fixes for Drop Caps.
- Resolves overlap between Drop Caps and Chinese text using `clear: both`.
- Fixes "Double Indentation" on Drop Cap paragraphs.
- Preserves original alignment (e.g. centered titles) by relaxing aggressive resets.
- Intelligent `no-indent` class assignment based on specific keywords (`drop`, `no-indent`).
### Bug Fixes
- **Endnote Extraction**: Fixed a critical bug where citations like `[28]` caused Integrity Check failures.
- **Extraction Logic**: Regex updated to treat `[N]` patterns as structural elements, preserving links.
- **Integrity Check**: Added "Placeholder Hydration" to correctly validate content when placeholders encapsulate visible text.
- **Result**: Prevents fallback to plain text, ensuring links and italics are preserved in complex paragraphs.
### Pipeline
- **Preprocessing**: `FormatExtractor` now more robust against mixed content.
