## 2026-10-08 — translation and QA improvements

- Replace regex tag extraction with balanced DOM placeholders and protect literal φ.

- Fail closed on invalid translations; selectively retry and checkpoint validated chunks.

- **Endnote Extraction**: Fixed a critical bug where citations like `[28]` caused Integrity Check failures.

- **Extraction Logic**: Regex updated to treat `[N]` patterns as structural elements, preserving links.

- **Integrity Check**: Added "Placeholder Hydration" to correctly validate content when placeholders encapsulate visible text.
|
|
- **Result**: Prevents fallback to plain text, ensuring links and italics are preserved in complex paragraphs.

|
|
